Small footprint, big heart is our brand. To us, it is a phrase that has two potential interpretations.
Firstly, we raise much needed funds for the benefit of our partners and the charitable causes they support (Big Heart). Additionally, where we can, we pass on items that people no longer want to those whose need is greater – here in the UK and in other parts of the world (Big Heart). Alongside this, we embed environmental and sustainable working practices to recycle and reuse clothes that would normally head straight to landfill – reducing the overall impact created by fast fashion which has become one of the world’s major polluting industries (Small Footprint).
Secondly, our textile recycling banks. Approximately two and a half metres squared, they are designed with our partners to be aesthetically pleasing and to fit in with their local surroundings (Small Footprint). At their heart, they can hold a significant amount of items – maximising the number of donations we can make (Big Heart). Our internal textile recycling units, which are made of recyclable cardboard, are much smaller.
Collections are frequent enough to make sure the units don’t overflow but, infrequent enough to minimise our own environmental impact.
