Combating the fast fashion culture

Let’s work together to recycle, reduce, reuse and renew

In the west, many people throw clothes away long before they are worn out. In the UK alone, over 300,000 tonnes of unwanted clothing is sent to landfill every year, amounting to 5% of our carbon footprint. This is a heavy burden for local authorities to carry on our behalf.

The fast fashion industry has become one of the major polluting industries in the world. The production of the crops, fibres and garments used in fashion all contribute to differing forms of potential environmental pollution, including water, air and soil pollution.

Incredibly, the textile industry is the second greatest polluter of freshwater in the world. This is largely due to the vast over production of fast fashion items, the use of synthetic fibres and the agriculture pollution of fashion crops.

The “pile it high, sell it cheap” clothing culture of our high streets sees people throw many of their items away after a very short time. From pesticides to fertilisers, chemicals to high energy input, non-biodegradable synthetic materials to mass water consumption, fast fashion has a massive detrimental impact on the environment as well as our health.

Our aim is to help stem the tide by reusing and recycling clothes that people no longer want. We will help to deal with this huge problem by extending the life of high-quality, high street-branded clothing that has been discarded far too quickly. We gather, sort and pass unwanted items on at ethically conscious prices to those communities that are most in need – here in the UK and in different parts of the world.

The benefits are felt by all involved – good, affordable clothing passed on to those who need it most. In the process, we can raise additional revenue for charities so that the socio-economic and environmental benefits are realised several times over.

Please contact us today and play your part in making a difference to the growing and worrying problem.
